Privacy policy
My Wider World is designed as a private exploration map. Your location history and the map you reveal stay on your iPhone.
Data My Wider World processes
With your permission, My Wider World processes your device location, including coordinates, timestamps, movement, and location accuracy. The app uses this information to:
- Reveal your map and follow your position.
- Reconnect plausible GPS gaps.
- Calculate exploration statistics and identify visited places.
- Maintain daily streaks and award trophies.
If you use journey recovery, the app also stores the route, time, transport mode, and places you choose for that recovered journey.
Data collection and sharing
My Wider World does not transmit your location history or exploration data to the developer. The app has no account system, advertising, analytics SDK, tracking, data sale, or cloud backend. The developer therefore does not collect data from the app as Apple defines collection for the App Store privacy label.
My Wider World uses Apple MapKit to display maps. Apple may process map requests under Apple's privacy policy. The app does not give the developer access to that information.
Storage and security
Your trail and derived progress are stored in the app's protected Application Support directory on your iPhone. The map-style preference is stored in the app's private preferences. This information is available only to My Wider World on that device and is not shared with other apps.
Deleting My Wider World from your iPhone deletes its locally stored trail and progress.
Location choices
My Wider World asks for foreground location first. It separately explains why Always Location is useful before requesting it: exploration can continue while the app is in the background or the screen is locked.
You can deny that request, disable Precise Location, or change access at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
My Wider World is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated before the changed version is released.
